I still think Fortran IV is a wonderful language and am amazed to read recently that it is faster than C++ and can even be faster than C. To its credit, C has been used to implement Unix which was a wonderful invention. But Unix could be written in Fortran. I have spent a lot of time learning C and C++ and mnay other languages.
