Joe, possible, there are many skin customizations for it.

Kwaku, there is a ti 89 emulator you could use for that.

Ti-89s are pretty powerful. You can do a lot with it, and its not even a PDA.

I have spent a lot of time learning C and C++ and mnay other languages. I still think Fortran IV is a wonderful language and am amazed to read recently that it is faster than C++ and can even be faster than C.

To its credit, C has been used to implement Unix which was a wonderful invention. But Unix could be written in Fortran.

Fortran IV is great. Give me a grant to continue using it. I seriously thought of trying to get my work approved, at least for a minor thesis: reviewing code I wrote in Fortran IV in 1976, and explaining the design methods I used. I recently saw some literature from the late 1970's which explained that labelled common can be used for "information hiding".

Is there anyone out there who knows Fortran IV, and knows a course where I could get my work examined?

Wow, that's great! Sounds fun.

I'm going to be doing a project in computational chemistry (best of both worlds). It's going to be a theoretical study on the interaction between water and TiO2. It'll help further the understanding of water/metal-oxide chemistry :).

just (over break last week) got a job offer at the christa mcauliffe planetarium in concord. i get to design planetarium programs and lesson plans for students at schools around new england that borrow the "portable planetarium" - basically an inflatable classroom-sized dome. hopefully will do some presentations / guide stuff in the real dome too. really looking forward to getting away from research (which is lonely, boring, and repetitive) and interacting with and teaching the general public about the stuff i'm passionate about! i just have to submit some forms showing i have >400 teaching hours' worth of experience, so i can get certified by the state for the position.

what kinda research? obviously chemistry (or compsci? weren't you in that too or something?)... good luck!!

hm, yes, the new layout wastes a lot of space, but that was a design decision to keep the post width small so that a small amount of written data can take up more space. I guess for the sake of microblogging, I can life with a narrow layout...

Yeah, I haven't been doing a good job keeping up with your blog either. I'll try to do better.

This summer, I'll hopefully be staying at Caltech doing research here. I'll hear if I got accepted sometime soon. What are you doing for the summer?

whoa, look at all these posts! geez, i have a lot of backreading to do to catch up... the new layout is interesting but it seems to waste a lot of space, is there any reasoning behind that?

Admit it, you're just being a sore loser after the 2005 Superbowl. My Cardinals fan friends were too, in the 2005 WS... and then came 2007... :D
