Real Name: Michael Huynh
Aliases: mikeXstudios, mXlinux, mX, H
Gender: Male
Age: 18
Physical Age: 18
Hair Color: Black
Eye Color: Brown
Origin: Believed to be the planet Earth (Cannot be confirmed)
Height: About 5 feet 5 inches
Weight: About 130 pounds
IQ: N/A (I don’t run on IQ, I run on passion!)
Grade Level: 12th Grade in Upper Darby High School
Location: Suburbs of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania
Special Powers: I’m not telling!
Religion: Not religious but that doesn’t mean I don’t follow certain morals and/or philosophies of religion. Mostly, I’m not too fond of believing in something that intuitively seems illogical and impossible. If something is proven to be true, I’ll believe in it. However, I like ideas from Zen Buddhism. As a martial artist, it’s my kind of thinking. To me, Buddhism is more about principles than about the belief of a divine force. I also follow (or do my best in attempting to follow) the code of Bushido.

Hm..I’ll take one of those quizes sometime.

Around Here

This is for Penguin who has always wondered what it was like around here..

So, my sister has a digital camera, and one day, I was able to steal, I mean, borrow it for a while to take some photos! This is pretty mimicing what Penguin ocassionally does with her journal–go on photo ops about her life. Here we go:

Bird’s eye view of where I live. The poorly drawn “circle” is where I live. The place labeled “school” is actually a juvenile detention center and a mental correction facility. That’s where I go for more of the year from September to June. The big area with lots of grass and trees is a cemetery. It’s quite peaceful and a lot of people jog around the perimeter.

NOTE: Thumbnails are shown. To see a bigger image, click the thumbnail.

This is where I live: a townhouse. Not the most lavish of all places, but certainly not the worse. It’s small and cozy. Unfortunately, that overhang in the front and the tree block a lot of sunlight from coming into the house. It makes the living room dark all the time. However, the tree is good because trees are generally good. They provide a good aura and increase the quality of air. And that’s my lawn in that picture. Certain flightless birds might be shocked at small my lawn is, but um, what can I say? This is normal for me ^^;.

During the summer in the front of my house, my mom and my sister like to grow tomatoes. Mostly, my sister loves tomatoes and instigates my mom to plant them. Last summer (2003) I had some peanut sprouts I brought home from Atlanta, GA. I planted them in front and they grew quickly. However, that was towards the end of the summer and then fall came quickly and the peanut plant didn’t grow very well :(. The big tree blocks a lot of sunlight from reaching the plants.

This is the rest of my street. As you can see, all of the houses are pretty much the same. The street is lined with cars. During the school year, many students park on my street. Of course, as the big boss of the triad, the street is my turf. Therefore, I have to charge kids “protection money.” Many times, kids had to go home crying because the engine was missing from their car, or the steering wheel was gone, or they suddenly find the mileage of their car to be 9545825 miles. Or, or, they found their car to suddenly be a convertable even though it wasn’t before. :) But of course, I give free turf rights to my friends. Matt L. parks on my street with no problems!

So exiting my street, we can catch a glimpse of a bigger street. An intersection is seen below. That’s where some stores are located. Nothing good like a book store or anything. Just your usual stuff: McDonalds, CVS, Dry Cleaners, ACME, Dollar Store, Exxon, Movie Rental Place, Citizen’s Bank, etc. Why can’t they have a book store?! That’d be like my favorite hang out spot :). Yeah, and don’t park on this side…like the sign says.

So, we venture down to the intersection and get a closer look at the stores from CVS. Boring ^^;. Not a lot of action happens around here. Just a few murders a day, serial killings, grand theft, people stealing tanks and driving them on the streets. Nothing exciting at all!

Disclaimer: Some descriptions were not *that* factual. The truth was bent! Sorry! ^^;

Hopefully, next time, I’ll be able to take better pictures. I quickly snapped a few because I didn’t want people to think that I was insane (okay, okay, they already know, but still) running around with a camera. I mean, just how many people do you see running around with a camera? They’d probably think I was a terrorist running around taking pictures ^^;.

My FBI Interrogation

0 #

This was something I wrote last year (2002)…

This was ripped from a FBI interrogation:

Big Boss: Well Mr. Anderson…*cough* *cough*, sorry, I was reading from the wrong file. Let me start over again. Well, Mr. Huynh…aka. mikeXstudios, it’s fortunate for you to join us today for a little chat…heh, heh. Why not start this conversation by telling us about yourself.
mikeXstudios: Never! I already gave you my 2 cents. What else do you want? A dollar?
Big Boss: Hah, Hah. Nice joke. DO IT OR THIS PUPPY GOES! *holds up a puppy*
mikeXstudios: Hey, where did you get that? Oh nevermind. I’ll talk. I’ll talk. Just spare the puppy.
Big Boss: Ahem!
mikeXstudios: Let’s see, you already have my profile. I’ll start somewhere else.
mikeXstudios: It was a dark and stormy night. I am currently a sophomore in high school. I am taking Honors Alegbra 2, Honors English 10, Honors Physics, AP Government and Politics, Computer Programming 2, Honors French 3, Honors French 4, and Orchestra. You’re probably like, “This kid is nuts! There is no way someone can take that many classes!” However, this is true. By sacrficing my lunch and arranging my schedule in a special manner, I am able to fit all those classes in. One problem is that I can only have Orchestra for half a school year, but I am content with that.
Miss Hale: So your one of those crazy competitive students in school right?
mikeXstudios: Whoa! How did you get in here, Miss Hale? (By the way, she was my Honors Biology teacher) Oh nevermind. To answer your question, I am not, but I try to be. You see, I have no desire to compete against my fellow students. Rather than trying every little trick to have the highest grade in class, I would like to be helping people out instead. I don’t care about points or grades. I believe (along with Mr. Gali, the superintendent and former Middle School principal, and many others) that your grades do not determine how successful one can be in the future. It couldn’t find a word for it, but Mr Gali defined it beautifully when he grandly recited his speech for the graduating class of 2002. He stated that to be successful, one must have passion for what one does. It doesn’t matter if one is dirt poor or disgustingly rich. It takes passion to get places. It doesn’t matter if one fails school or passes it in flying colors. Without passion, one cannot succeed. So, to get back to the conversation, my mindset in school isn’t to beat and challenge everyone. I try hard in school, and good grades are sometimes the result of it, but I don’t gloat over it. (On the other hand, it could be that because I perform so poorly in school, I might be despising the people that always are ahead of me by 2 steps. I don’t know.) The ONLY reason why I even bother competing with anyone and trying to take as many classes as possible is because everyone is playing the competition game and the only way to win is to, well, play along. I know people that are crazy about points and college. It seems that the only thing it their lives is school. They don’t read for enjoyment anymore. They read to be better than you or me. I don’t approve of this.
Big Boss: What about your friends? Did you scare them all off when you were small?
mikeXstudios: Ha, ha, very funny, but I actually have friends. Two of my best friends are Mike F. (Fez or Fed) and Eugene M. Other friends include: Franco G., Victor W., Steve M., Dave K., and Andy X. There are probably more names I have not mentioned, and I am sorry for that. Online buddies include Tweetle, Thrawn, scavimink, Snore, the people at Tenchi in Tokyo and the people at Lame Industries.
Big Boss: Interesting, interesting. Are you taking all of that down?
Office Drone: Yes, sir.
Big Boss: Now about your hobbies. What do you do all day? Stare at a computer screen with your mouth hanging down?
mikeXstudios: Well, uh, bascially yes. Come to think of it, I actually do other things. I hang out with my friends, I play video games, and I watch TV and movies too. One thing I am particually fond of is my martial art hobby. I used to train very frequently at MKA Karate in Drexelbrook, but now that I moved out of Drexelbrook, I train less frequently because no one wants to drive me there. I received my 1st dan Black Belt on June 22, 2002 from Master Terry in the style of Ryukyu Kempo which focuses on pressure point fighting. I have been training for a bit over 3 years now and I have no intention of stopping. On the computer, I work on my websites (this one and Tenchi in Tokyo), write scripts (Perl and soon PHP), surf the net, chat on IRC and AIM, and play games.
Big Boss: Are you a hacker?
mikeXstudios: No.
Big Boss: *Yells at the Office Drone* Damn you! We got the wrong person! He’s not the hacker Neo! I want that guy in this room by the end of tomorrow or your finished!
Office Drone: *Wails* Ok! Thank you very much for giving me a chance! I won’t fail you!
Big Boss: So Mike, do you want a bug?
mikeXstudios: A what?
Big Boss: A bug.
mikeXstudios: A real bug or a fake bug?
Big Boss: What do you mean by that? It’s a software bug (and partially mechanical)!
mikeXstudios: Whoa, your going to give me a free copy of Windows XP?
Big Boss: *Slaps himself on the forehead* Argh! Ack! Syn! Fin! Baf! Hogwash! Gak! Erg! No! I mean a bug that I can inject into you that can track your every movement! Murf, Nevermind! Just get out of this place!
mikeXstudios: What ever you say….. *leaves*

My Ti-89!

5 #

If you don’t have a computer around, or a pda, the next best thing is the Ti-89 graphing calculator manufactured by Texas Instruments. I bought my Ti-89 at Target for about $130 during September of 2002. It was worth the investment. The Ti-89 can do just about anything! There is the built in programming language, the Ti-GCC C language, and ASM programming support on it’s processor. It has voliate and flash memory built in (around 700kb total though) for storing things and support for transferring files from one calculator to another or to and from your computer.

The best thing about this calculator is it’s program support. Ti Calc is a program archive site for the Ti=89. There are programs written for everything! You can read e-books on the Ti-89, play chess, play 3d shooters, zelda, final fantasy, super mario (nintendo and game boy), breakout, pac man, asteriods, and just about anything you can think of. It can even play sounds (through headphones). Damn, it’s just so awesome. There is even a matrix screen saver for it! If there is ever a calculator to get, it has to be the Ti-89 hands down. Humanity wouldn’t survive without it.

my ti-89

The picture to the top is a scan of my own Ti-89. It’s a hardware version 2 with AMS 2.07 currently loaded. I had 2.08, but it had bad support of many applications, so I downgraded. On the screen is TICT’s ebook reader with Aleph1’s Smashing the Stack. I created an ebook of Smashing the Stack so I could read it in school.

About - name

1 #

mikeXstudios was a name/logo/company that I created in 1996-1997 (Somewhere around that time period). It was in fifth grade (I went to Aronmink Elementary School) I remember, when me and this girl who was in my class started labeling our school work with our logos. Her’s was Liztron(tm) and mine at the time was: Mikex Studios(tm).

Soon my company name changed into Mikexstudios(tm) instead of Mikex Studios(tm). But still, the name looked lame. Finally in Sixth Grade (This was in Drexel Hill Middle School), I made the M lower case, and the x upper case. The result was this: mikeXstudios(tm).

I started learning about computers when I was in Kindergarten, where we got to use PowerPC Macs. Then in Third Grade I got a Packard Bell Legend 2440 PC (Yes, I know, Packard Bells are lame, but at that time it was like an eMachine). When I first got the computer, I knew my goal was to learn how to program games. I didn’t get to my goal yet. Then between fifth and sixth grade I got interested in Hacking, but my definition at the time of hacking was to break into computers and steal $ or credit cards and Government passwords. But even still, when I started hacking, I took a vow that I would never damage or steal anything. I just wanted to hack, but not for profit or anything. When I first started searching the net for hacking sites, all I found were canned cracking/hacking programs. At that time, I just though hacking was just running these programs (Of course I couldn’t get them to run….). Those hacking sites were probably made by wanna be crackers that just want to impress their friends by making a “cracking” web page. Those sites were so bad, they didn’t even teach me that I needed Linux to hack! All they told me was to crack Unix passwd files with Cracker Jack. I didn’t even know how to telnet into a computer yet!

The magical breakthrough was in this year when [the tired of finding cracking web sites me] clicked on a link to the happyhacker site. Little did I know that it would bring me into a world of information warfare, and give me all of the knowledge and skills to participate in it.

Thanks for listening.
