I’m back at Caltech right now and finally managed to get on the internet again (Caltech didn’t give out any ethernet cables and there is no wireless connectivity in the place I’m temporarly staying at) by “borrowing” an ethernet cable from a computer lab. I am really borrowing and not stealing since I left a note there saying that I’ll return this spare (it was on the floor) cable tomorrow with my name and location on it. I’d like to post about how things are going and respond to all of the cool comments people left, but the activities are going on here all the time leaving me with no free time. Seriously, this is about my second time on the internet since I’ve arrived and the 4th time I’ve used a computer here. So right now, I’m going to go take a shower, brush my teeth, and see if I can get some sleep. Tomorrow and Friday are both packed so I’ll see if I can slip in a few things to say here and there. I actually have something ironic to tell you (because things of the ironic sort always seem to happen to me and that’s the irony of that) so I’m eager to post some more.

Remember the irony! The same way you’d go about remembering the Alamo!
I swear if Caltech’s anything like MIT (which I think it is, only less awesome of course), then once Orientation ends and classes start and such you’ll have a lot more free time than you anticipated… because I know you won’t be up all night doing homework, so like me, you’ll have free time at night with nothing to do. It will get better!
Glad to hear you’re having fun! (The story about the ethernet cable is awesome!) I am really glad you’re enjoying it. Now just imagine how much fun we’d be having if you came here. [It's about four times the fun we're each having now. Oh well.]

Supposedly, (I’m not making this up or anything. It seems to be the general consensus even if you ask MIT kids that seriously know about Caltech) Caltech is harder than MIT in terms of both course difficulty and course load (trimester). Therefore, I think I’ll have a lot less free time than you. I think everyone here spends just about the whole day doing problem sets.
I returned the ethernet cable and got my own now. Caltech’s alright. I suppose it would be more fun at MIT since I know more people (you included and PGSSers), but I think I have different definitions of fun than other people. But I think things will work out.
