Demonstration of Switchable Holographically Formed Polymer-dispersed Liquid Crystals

I (along with my friend Eugene Marinelli) completed project Demonstration of Switchable Holographically Formed Polymer-dispersed Liquid Crystals (H-PDLCs) at Drexel University under professors Dr. Tim Kurzweg and Dr. Adam Fontecchio. Our goal was to learn the theory behind H-PDLCs and engineer an electronic device to address them. This project was entered into the Delaware County and Delaware Valley Science Fair. At the Delaware County Science Fair, the project won the GlaxoSmithKline, Boeing, and Best Team Project Award. At the Delaware Valley Science Fair, the project was designated the “Best Photonics Project” by the International Society of Optical Engineers.
